Levent Tower Wins First Prize in the Commercial Category at the World Architecture Festival

Rising on the financial axis of Levent, Istanbul, the 42-storey Levent Tower has been named winner of the Commercial Category at the 2026 World Architecture Festival (WAF). At the festival held in Singapore — regarded as one of the most respected events in the architecture world — the project stood out among hundreds of entries from more than 60 countries.

The Design Approach Behind the Award

Levent Tower was conceived not merely as an office tower, but as an urban focal point that integrates with the surrounding public realm and prioritises pedestrians. The open gallery at ground level offers neighbours a permeable public interface rather than a closed lobby. The jury particularly highlighted the tower’s ability to “resolve commercial density without turning its back on city life.”

“Levent Tower is powerful evidence that even a high-density programme can produce generous, shared spaces.” — WAF Jury Report

Sustainability Performance

The project was designed targeting LEED Platinum, with energy modelling running from day one of the design process. The double-skin facade both controls solar gain and enables natural ventilation.

  • 38% lower annual energy consumption compared to neighbouring buildings
  • 45% potable water savings through greywater recovery
  • Low-carbon, recycled aluminium used on the facade
  • 1,200 m² of green space across roof and terrace levels

What It Means for Turkish Architecture

This award is significant not only for a single project, but as a sign that architecture produced in Turkey can compete on an international scale. At NEXUM, we believe design that unites local context with global standards resonates in every geography.

What’s Next?

Levent Tower’s operational data will be published independently at the end of its first year. Our goal is to back our sustainability claims with transparent measurements and contribute to an exemplary reporting culture in the industry.
